Vestas Nacelles - Customer Case Study

Vestas Nacelles, a manufacturer of large components for wind turbines, faced the challenge of ensuring the quality and precise assembly of massive parts, where a single error could be extremely costly. Their strict quality policy required fast and accurate measurement of every part produced, but their existing laser trackers were becoming time-consuming to operate. This led them to seek a more efficient solution from their vendor, Hexagon.

The solution implemented by Hexagon was the provision of a Leica Absolute Tracker AT901 and a ROMER Absolute Arm. The new laser trackers dramatically improved efficiency, with the PowerLock feature alone cutting measurement time per object by up to two hours. The measuring arm eliminated external measurement logistics, delivering results in minutes instead of days. Hexagon's equipment paid for itself within half a year, significantly reduced the cost of poor quality, and provided reliable local service to keep production running smoothly.
