A Hexagon Case Study
The Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) faced a critical challenge following the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, which exposed gaps in the U.S. military's emergency response capabilities. Tasked by the Secretary of Defense to implement a modern E911 system, MCSC needed a comprehensive solution to efficiently manage emergency assets and reduce response times. They selected Hexagon to provide the Dispatch, Alert, and Reporting (DAR) portion of their Consolidated Emergency Response System (CERS).
Hexagon implemented its commercial computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software and related systems, adapting the solution to meet the military's stringent cybersecurity and acquisition requirements. The result was a world-class emergency response system deployed across 13 sites, which significantly enhanced the effectiveness of law enforcement and fire personnel. Hexagon’s solution reduced response times and provided critical new capabilities, such as tracking first responders at the radio level to ensure the closest unit is dispatched, ultimately protecting Marine Corps personnel and their families.
