Case Study: BBG GmbH & Co. achieves reliable process measurements with Hexagon m&h radio touch probes

A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the BBG GmbH & Co. Case Study

Two radio communication options safeguard processes and reliability

The customer, BBG GmbH & Co., a specialist in high-quality plastics processing and tool manufacturing, faced disruptive interference on its machining centers. The radio remote control for its crane system was causing false measurements and unplanned stoppages by interfering with the radio signals of its m&h touch probes, threatening process reliability.

Hexagon's m&h division implemented a new 2.4 GHz radio system using Automatic Frequency Select (AFS) and channel spread technology. This solution automatically scans for and selects interference-free channels, ensuring fast and secure signal transmission. The result for BBG was the complete elimination of false measurements and the restoration of reliable processing procedures, which was critical as an error in their custom, one-batch production could have costly consequences.
