Preview of the Toronto Police Services Case Study

Toronto Police Service integrates location and navigation using mobile CAD

The Toronto Police Service, the police force for Canada's largest city, faced the challenge of replacing its legacy, internally developed computer-aided dispatch (CAD) mobile system. They required a state-of-the-art mobile dispatch solution from vendor Hexagon that would provide in-car mapping, navigation, and automatic vehicle location (AVL) integration to continue evolving its emergency response capabilities.

Hexagon implemented its mobile dispatch solution, working closely with the Toronto Police Service to ensure seamless integration with their existing CAD system. The solution, which included equipping 500 vehicles and training 1,800 officers, was rolled out on time and on budget. The results included enhanced officer safety through real-time tracking, optimized dispatching, and the ability to quickly set up perimeters during incidents, all made possible by the integrated CAD map and AVL capabilities from Hexagon.
