PRODINTEC, a technology foundation supporting industry in Asturias, Spain, faced the challenge of needing a versatile, portable metrology tool to handle a wide variety of measurement and quality assurance tasks for its clients. They required a robust solution that could perform both tactile and non-contact scanning on diverse applications, from machine alignment to part inspection, in often rough industrial environments. To address this, they partnered with vendor Hexagon and implemented the ROMER Absolute Arm with an integrated laser scanner.

The solution from Hexagon provided a single, mobile tool capable of high-precision probing and scanning on everything from 3D-printed prototypes to turbine blades. The ROMER Absolute Arm's durability and flexibility allowed PRODINTEC to increase efficiency, with scanning applications growing to comprise 70% of its use. The results included enhanced measurement data quality and the new capability to perform measurements directly at customer facilities, significantly adding value to their industrial consulting services.
