Talleres de Guernica - Customer Case Study

Talleres de Guernica, a Spanish machine tool company, faced a significant challenge when a client requested a massive, high-precision 7-meter diameter chuck. Manufacturing such a large component with a maximum allowable deviation of just 0.05 mm was a new and risky undertaking for them, as mistakes would be extremely costly. To address this, they turned to vendor Hexagon for a metrology solution.

Hexagon implemented their Leica Absolute Tracker AT401, a portable laser tracker that enabled precise measurement of the enormous chuck throughout its manufacturing process. This allowed the company to perform continuous quality control and make necessary adjustments. The solution was successfully used to deliver a perfect part to the customer, and it directly enabled Talleres de Guernica to access new market segments by proving their capability to manufacture chucks of an enormous size.
