SUMCA - Customer Case Study

SUMCA, a French precision tooling manufacturer, faced the challenge of measuring complex internal geometries in its high-precision tools to meet evolving customer demands and maintain its competitive edge. Their existing measurement equipment left uncertainties and could not accurately probe deep cavities. To overcome this, they turned to vendor Hexagon for a solution involving the Leitz Reference coordinate measuring machine equipped with an HP-O optical sensor.

The solution implemented by Hexagon provided SUMCA with the ability to perform sub-micron, in-cavity measurements that were previously impossible. This allowed their metrologists to guarantee part geometry without limits, ensuring the high precision required for their clients. The Leitz Reference machine, integrated with QUINDOS software, became an integral part of their manufacturing process, providing a verifiable advantage over competitors and solidifying their reputation for working to a thousandth of a millimetre.
