STX France, a designer and builder of high-value ships, faced a challenge with its outdated CAD systems, which had reached their maximum capacity. They required an integrated solution to manage the entire shipbuilding project lifecycle. To address this, STX France partnered with Hexagon to implement its Intergraph Smart Yard solution, specifically Intergraph Smart 3D, to improve efficiency and coordination across different engineering disciplines.

Hexagon worked closely with STX France on a co-development project to enhance the Smart 3D software specifically for complex shipbuilding. This collaboration resulted in key improvements to features like parametric object creation and member positioning, which provided STX with the confidence to manage a single CAD model from basic design through to manufacturing. The solution has positioned them to optimize processes and streamline the benefits of an integrated digital design and production workflow.
