A Hexagon Case Study
GRADEL, a Luxembourg-based company specializing in specialized machinery for the nuclear and space sectors, faced a challenge in performing rigorous quality control on thousands of received parts. Their old 3D measuring machine was too slow and complex, so they needed a new tool that was fast, simple for non-specialists to use, and highly precise to meet strict industry certifications. They turned to vendor Hexagon for a solution.
Hexagon provided GRADEL with a portable Absolute Arm measurement arm and PC-DMIS software. This solution gave the company the flexibility, speed, and accuracy it required, allowing five staff members to perform detailed inspections with tolerances as tight as 0.05 mm. The Hexagon technology provided greater autonomy for their control processes and enabled them to efficiently reuse inspection files from subcontractors, enhancing their capacity for complex, turnkey projects.
