South Sound 911, a public safety agency serving Pierce County, Washington, faced a critical challenge with non-interoperable communication systems that hindered collaboration and slowed response times for its police and fire departments. To address this, they partnered with Hexagon to implement a regional computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system, which consolidated five separate public safety answering points into one unified operation.

Hexagon’s solution involved configuring the CAD system for 41 different agencies and providing mobile data capabilities for first responders. The results significantly improved real-time information sharing and cross-jurisdictional coordination, leading to faster and more effective emergency responses. This collaboration also created cost efficiencies for taxpayers and enhanced situational awareness for officers, making communities safer.
