A Hexagon Case Study
Snohomish County Public Utility District (SnoPUD), a major utility in Washington, required a robust enterprise system to manage accurate network data for its smart grid and advanced distribution management system (ADMS). The utility needed a single, scalable system of record with an open database to support real-time updates and provide reliable data to various departments and systems like SAP. To meet this challenge, SnoPUD adopted advanced GIS technology from Hexagon.
Hexagon's solution provided a database-centric system that manages the entire network infrastructure with built-in business rules and validation, serving as the single source of truth. This implementation successfully integrated with SnoPUD's GE ADMS and SAP systems, improved data quality through daily corrective measures, and allowed the utility to manage a model with over 44 million access points without performance loss. Hexagon's technology gave employees greater confidence in the data and established a world-class standard for network model management.
