Smart motor designing with ODYSSEE CAE

Nagaoka University of Technology needed to design high-performance electric motors but faced a major challenge: the finite element method (FEM) simulations required to optimize motor geometry and current loads were computationally intensive and time-consuming, significantly delaying development. They partnered with vendor Hexagon to address these challenges using the ODYSSEE CAE solution.

Hexagon's ODYSSEE CAE used machine learning to create highly accurate reduced-order models from a small fraction of the previously required FEM data. This approach drastically cut simulation times. For one task, Hexagon's solution reduced the calculation time by 68.9%, and for the more complex optimization of current loads, it slashed the modeling time by 87%, from 30.8 hours down to just 4.0 hours, while maintaining high accuracy.
