A Hexagon Case Study
Monash University, a public research university, needed to analyze and understand the root causes of fatigue cracking in heavy-duty trailers. This required students to simulate complex dynamic behaviors of trailer models under various driving conditions and road surfaces, including different pothole geometries. To meet this challenge, they turned to Hexagon's Adams Car software.
Using Hexagon's Adams Car, the students could efficiently design and run simulations without the need to derive and solve complex governing equations manually. This solution significantly reduced calculation time and eliminated potential errors. The resulting data provided a better understanding of the trailer's structure and was used for fatigue analysis and to train machine learning models for behavior prediction. Hexagon also provided expert support through a 24-hour hotline to assist the students.
