Silbitz Guss - Customer Case Study

Silbitz Guss, a foundry manufacturing large cast components for industries like energy and railways, faced significant challenges in quality assurance due to the massive size and weight of their parts. They needed a portable measuring solution that could also mark the parts during inspection to meet customer demands and gain a competitive edge. They turned to Hexagon for a solution.

Hexagon implemented a Leica Absolute Tracker AT901 laser tracker system, which was portable and could be equipped with a Leica T-Probe for tactile measurement and a Leica T-Scan hand scanner. The crucial feature was the T-Probe's center punch, which allowed for accurate marking directly during measurement. This solution provided Silbitz Guss with a clear competitive advantage, saved considerable time, and made measuring large parts significantly easier and faster, especially with features like PowerLock that automatically reacquires the laser beam.
