Scanditronix Magnet AB, a Swedish manufacturer of specialized coils and magnets, faced a challenge meeting the extremely high accuracy and new alignment requirements for electromagnets it was producing for the MAX IV synchrotron project. Their existing field measuring table was insufficient, necessitating a new measurement solution, which led them to partner with Hexagon.

Hexagon implemented a GLOBAL Performance CMM, which provided the necessary precision and a large enough table for the two-meter magnets. Working closely with Scanditronix, Hexagon's engineers developed a custom measurement program integrated with PC-DMIS software. This solution from Hexagon delivered a new dimension of alignment, allowing Scanditronix to measure magnets in the exact same coordinate system used by their customer during installation, thereby eliminating a potential source of error and ensuring world-class accuracy.
