SBS-Feintechnik, a German manufacturer of precision drive components and units for industries ranging from automotive to cuckoo clocks, needed a high-accuracy measurement solution to inspect complex gear features and mould inserts. To meet their stringent quality demands and reduce reliance on external inspection services, they turned to vendor Hexagon and its DEA GLOBAL coordinate measuring machine with QUINDOS software.

Hexagon's solution provided a universal measuring machine capable of inspecting all gear features with higher accuracy than previous dedicated gear measuring instruments. This allowed SBS-Feintechnik to bring mould insert inspection in-house, reduce corrective grinding, and optimize measurement throughput with a pallet loading system. The implementation was so successful that the company expanded its use of the Hexagon technology to a nightshift operation for automated measurements, enhancing production reliability.
