Robert Bosch - Customer Case Study

Robert Bosch GmbH's central calibration laboratory, a long-standing, premier-class facility, required equipment of the highest quality to measure highly complex parts, calibrate precision instruments, and maintain its position as a benchmark for accuracy in metrology. To meet this challenge, they utilized cutting-edge 3D coordinate measuring machines from the vendor, Hexagon, specifically the Leitz PMM-C Infinity and Leitz PMM-C Ultra models.

The solution implemented by Hexagon provided Bosch with a sophisticated metrology system capable of achieving an exceptionally low measurement uncertainty of 0.33 µm for calibrating ball plates. This was supported by advanced features like nanometre-scale resolution and the QUINDOS software for highly flexible and complex measurement tasks. The results allowed Bosch's technicians to exploit the full potential of the machines, delivering precise calibrations with traceability to national standards and enabling them to support both internal divisions and external third-party customers with a premier-class service.
