The customer, Rheticus, faced the complex and costly challenge of predicting leaks in underground water and sewage pipelines by identifying ground subsidence. Although satellite radar data was available, it required highly specialized skills to process and interpret. They needed an automated system to simplify this analysis and provide clear, actionable results, leading them to partner with vendor Hexagon.

Utilizing Hexagon's M.App Portfolio, specifically M.App Chest and M.App Studio, the development team built the Rheticus cloud service. This Smart M.App automated the intricate radar data analysis, presenting simplified, prioritized results through an intuitive dashboard. This solution, developed in just two weeks, allows utility managers to target inspections, prevent serious damage, and optimize resources with monthly-updated information on subsidence risks.
