REUM Group - Customer Case Study

The REUM Group, a German manufacturer of high-quality automotive and consumer product components, faced challenges with manufacturing efficiency and process reliability in their mold-making shop. They needed a solution to perform in-process dimensional checks, particularly in the Z-axis, on workpieces while still clamped on their machining centers to avoid time-consuming rework. To address this, they implemented a solution from vendor Hexagon utilizing m&h touch probes and 3D Form Inspect software.

Hexagon's solution involved installing their m&h touch probes and 3D Form Inspect software on a HURON K2X10 machining center. The software seamlessly integrated with CAD data to generate automated, collision-free measuring programs. This allowed REUM to check critical dimensions and surface offsets on the machine with precision comparable to a dedicated coordinate measuring machine. The results were highly successful, leading to a noticeable reduction in workload, considerable time savings in the manufacturing cycle, and significantly improved process reliability, which encouraged REUM to expand the use of Hexagon's technology to other machines.
