A Hexagon Case Study
The Swiss engineering firm pinPlus AG, working on behalf of a large pharmaceutical company, faced a challenge in analyzing the sealing behavior of elastomer stoppers on medical syringes. The pharmaceutical customer suspected the damaged stoppers were compromising product tightness and shelf life, necessitating a highly complex nonlinear simulation to understand the material's behavior.
Using Hexagon's Marc and Mentat software, pinPlus created a digital twin from CT-scanned geometry and real-world material data to simulate the time- and temperature-dependent sealing behavior of the damaged stoppers. This solution from Hexagon enabled pinPlus to thoroughly evaluate product robustness without building costly prototypes, leading to significant cost savings and a faster time-to-market for the customer.
