Case Study: Faurecia achieves 97% faster crash seat simulations with Hexagon ODYSSEE CAE

A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the Faurecia Case Study

Reduced order modeling of advanced versatile seats

Faurecia, a world leader in automotive seating, faced a significant challenge in developing its "Cockpit of the Future." The company needed to perform extensive virtual crash testing for all possible seating configurations and occupant types, but traditional FEA analysis required years of computational time and excessive power, which conflicted with its carbon neutrality goals. To address this, they turned to vendor Hexagon and its ODYSSEE CAE machine learning solution.

Hexagon implemented reduced order models (ROM) using ODYSSEE CAE to analyze four severe crash scenarios. This approach slashed computational time by over 97%, with one simulation being reduced from 11 hours to just 1 minute, while still achieving FEA-level accuracy. The massive reduction in time and computing power enabled Faurecia to run vastly more simulations and significantly advanced its progress toward its carbon neutral ambitions.
