A Hexagon Case Study
RECARO Aircraft Seating, a manufacturer of aircraft seats, faced the challenge of balancing the need for extreme lightweight construction with uncompromising ergonomics, comfort, and long-term reliability. To meet its zero-error quality strategy and efficiently measure a wide variety of parts and materials, the company required a more advanced and flexible measurement technology solution than its previous manual boom machine. Hexagon provided its DEA GLOBAL 3D coordinate measuring machine equipped with multiple sensor technologies to address this need.
The solution from Hexagon implemented the DEA GLOBAL machine with both a CMS106 non-contact laser sensor and an LSP-X1 tactile scanning sensor, allowing for highly accurate and flexible measurement of all parts. This investment considerably increased the accuracy of measurement results, enabling RECARO to make clear quality statements and provide fast, easy-to-understand feedback to its suppliers. The machine's precision ensures the weight efficiency, ergonomics, and stability of RECARO's aircraft seats.
