A Hexagon Case Study
Harley Engineering (a subcontractor specializing in CNC punching) acquired Liberate Engineering (a laser cutting firm) and faced the challenge of integrating operations and software between the two companies. Their primary goal was to find a single, connected CAD/CAM software solution to manage both their punching and new laser cutting technologies. They turned to their existing vendor, Hexagon, for a solution.
The solution implemented was Hexagon's Radan software, specifically the Radprofile module for the lasers. This created a fully connected system allowing programming to be done at either site and sent to the appropriate machine, increasing operational speed and flexibility. Key benefits included significant time savings from features like on-the-fly part editing, the ability to convert photographed images into cutting files, and the use of Radan 3D to quickly flatten complex parts for manufacturing. This integration from Hexagon allowed the new holding company, HAL, to offer a wider range of in-house services, reduce subcontracting costs, and efficiently share workloads across both factories.
