A Hexagon Case Study
The PSA Group, a major automotive manufacturer, faced production bottlenecks and delays in its Mulhouse tool-making shop caused by the traditional quality control process. Relying on a central measuring machine created significant waiting times, blocking production machinery and slowing throughput. To address this, PSA partnered with vendor Hexagon to implement their m&h 3D Form Inspect probing system and software directly on their machine tools.
Hexagon's solution enabled in-process measurement of workpieces without removing them from the machining centers. This integration saved 1,194 production hours and €78,000 in costs within a single year by drastically reducing measurement time from over an hour to under five minutes per part. The vendor's technology also improved process reliability, enhanced collaboration between production and quality teams, and provided full traceability of measurement data, leading to faster throughput and immediate corrective actions.
