Portable metrology for large scale installations and alignments

PES (UK) Ltd, a provider of engineered products and specialist installation services, required high-precision measurement capabilities for large-scale alignment projects, such as installing positioning cones for aerospace manufacturing with accuracies as tight as 50 microns. Their existing equipment from vendor Hexagon was sufficient for layout but not for this level of precision, prompting them to seek a new portable CMM solution.

Hexagon implemented their Leica Absolute Tracker AT401, a portable and accurate measurement system. The solution provided traceable 3D data, operated wirelessly in harsh conditions, and was supported by Hexagon's training. This allowed PES to successfully complete the project for their client, win new challenging contracts, and feel confident in their ability to expand into new markets like renewable energy.
