Case Study: Hyster-Yale Group achieves faster, higher-quality forklift inspection with Hexagon

A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the Hyster Yale Group Case Study

Portability and support drives quality in forklift manufacturing

Hyster-Yale Group, a leading global forklift manufacturer, required a more portable quality control solution to inspect large fixtures and components across their extensive Craigavon facility. Their existing manual methods and fixed CMM were inefficient, and a previous portable measuring arm from another vendor had a high cost of ownership. This drove their search for a better solution from vendor Hexagon.

Hexagon provided an Absolute Arm with a 7-axis portable measuring arm and an RS5 laser scanner. This solution integrated with their existing PC-DMIS software, drastically reducing inspection times from 8 hours to just 40 minutes for some processes. The portable arm allowed the team to perform inspections and reverse engineering directly on the production floor, improving data quality for manufacturing and enabling preventative maintenance, all while being supported by Hexagon's expert local network.
