Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland - Customer Case Study

The Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland (OSNI) faced a challenge with inefficient, siloed systems for processing geospatial data. Their vector data editing and data attribution processes were handled in separate systems, creating workflow disconnects. To streamline its photogrammetry and mapping operations, OSNI needed a single, integrated software platform that could handle all necessary tasks and comply with its new data model. They selected a solution from the vendor Hexagon.

Hexagon, together with partner IMGS, implemented an end-to-end platform based on its GeoMedia and ImageStation solutions. This integrated system brought together aerial triangulation, stereo editing, and ortho production into a single workflow, which also connected to OSNI's existing validation systems. For Hexagon, the results were significant: OSNI consolidated its processes onto one cost-effective platform, drove efficiencies through automation, and shortened the time between data creation and operational use for its national mapping products.
