Oracle, a technology leader, required a powerful solution to manage, analyze, and visualize the massive and diverse geospatial data generated by smart cities. Their challenge was to pull together data from myriad sources into one environment to enable the complex analytics needed for urban planning and management, and they partnered with vendor Hexagon, using its LuciadLightspeed platform, to address this.

Hexagon’s solution involved integrating LuciadLightspeed with Oracle’s Exadata Database Machine with Spatial and Graph. This combination allowed for the highly performant storage and management of 3D city models, which were then rendered in real-time and combined with live sensor data. The result was a powerful Smart City platform that provides city managers and police forces with interactive, visually appealing visuals for tasks like security planning and traffic management, enabling them to quickly convey information and make data-driven decisions.
