Case Study: Robert Bosch achieves faster, more reliable sheetmetal procurement with Hexagon RADAN

A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the Robert Bosch Case Study

One of the world’s leading IoT companies uses RADAN software in a pilot project to ensure it gets the best deal from suppliers who produce its sheetmetal components

Robert Bosch Packaging Technology GmbH, part of the global Bosch Group, was facing challenges in procuring sheet metal parts. Their suppliers were providing late, incorrect, and inconsistent quotes, making it difficult to control costs and select the best manufacturing partner. To address this, they turned to vendor Hexagon and implemented a pilot project using several RADAN software modules including Radimport, Radprofile, Radmanager, and Radquote.

The solution from Hexagon automated the cost calculation process. By importing 3D models, the software accurately determined machining times and costs for all operations, fixing a final price for parts. This allowed Bosch to skip the traditional request for quotation process, shortening lead times by five to eight days. The results included significant cost savings, planning reliability, and the ability to select suppliers based on their specific production strengths, creating a win-win for both Bosch and its partners.
