Omni-Lite Industries reduces development costs and time in cold forming tool design with Simufact Forming

Omni-Lite Industries, a developer of precision components, was facing a material flow issue during the cold forming of a new aluminum part, which resulted in an unacceptable void in the final product's shape. The challenge emerged after a small, un-simulated change to their tooling design. To address this, they turned to the vendor Hexagon and its simulation software, Simufact Forming.

Hexagon's Simufact Forming software accurately simulated the material flow, identifying the root cause of the problem. After using the simulation to validate a design revision involving the raw material diameter, Omni-Lite produced new tooling that successfully eliminated the void. The solution provided by Hexagon resulted in a very close correlation between simulation and physical results, significantly reducing development costs and time to market by minimizing the need for repetitive physical testing.
