MSC Software helps scania reduce cabin noise in trucks

Scania, a leading global truck manufacturer, faced the challenge of reducing cabin noise to improve driver health and comfort, which required moving beyond physical testing to a more efficient, simulation-based design process. To address this, they partnered with Hexagon, utilizing its Actran software, integrated with MSC Nastran, to predict and analyze the main noise sources affecting the cabin.

The solution from Hexagon involved using Actran to simulate noise from sources like the powertrain and wind, allowing Scania to compare designs early in development. This was complemented by a new listening studio for subjective sound evaluations. The results enabled management to make critical design decisions based on audible simulations, leading to a more efficient design process and a commitment to further enhancing the driver experience.
