Case Study: Mott MacDonald improves pipeline stress analysis and drawing accuracy with Hexagon CAESAR II

A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the Mott MacDonald Case Study

Mott MacDonald uses CAESAR II® with success on pipeline in Papua New Guinea

Mott MacDonald, a major engineering consultant, was selected to design 445 km of complex onshore pipelines in the challenging terrain of Papua New Guinea. The project required addressing diverse stress conditions from geographic hazards and operating pressures while managing multiple design changes. To meet this challenge, they utilized Hexagon's CAESAR II pipe stress analysis software.

By implementing Hexagon's CAESAR II, Mott MacDonald was able to consolidate analysis, perform dynamic seismic studies, and use the integrated ISOGEN module for accurate drawings. The solution from Hexagon reduced the number of models needed, saved significant time and material costs for the EPC contractor, and enabled the team to successfully handle continuous design changes, ultimately achieving project milestones and generating additional revenue.
