More practical, accurate wind simulation diversifies the application of wind engineering

The customer, WindStyle Corporation, a wind engineering consulting firm, faced the challenge of traditionally relying on time-consuming and resource-intensive wind tunnel tests to simulate complex wind flows around buildings. Their vision was to more proactively utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to interpret wind flow and change design and building management processes, using the vendor Hexagon's scSTREAM software.

The solution implemented by Hexagon involved the use of scSTREAM for high-fidelity CFD simulations, which provided excellent compatibility with other software and flexible customization capabilities supported by Hexagon's engineers. This allowed WindStyle to efficiently simulate wind environments for over 32 different cases per project, significantly reducing preparation time from months to just a few days compared to physical testing.
