The Madhya Pradesh Forestry Department, responsible for managing vast forest resources, faced the challenge of monitoring ecological changes and illegal activities across a large, remote area. They needed to efficiently manage a massive repository of geospatial data, automate its cataloging, and make it instantly available to decision-makers. To address this, they partnered with Hexagon and implemented solutions including ERDAS APOLLO and ERDAS IMAGINE Professional.

Hexagon's solutions enabled the automatic cataloging of satellite imagery and served the data as OGC web services. Using ERDAS IMAGINE for processing and analysis, the department could conduct time-series and change-detection analysis, identify illegal mining and land encroachment, and generate clear reports. This provided the department with an integrated platform to effectively control deforestation and communicate changes to all stakeholders.
