Mobile Command Unit equipped with Hexagon CAD technology aids in major event, natural disaster response

Mobile County Communications District (MCCD), which handles 350,000 calls annually for 15 agencies, faced a significant challenge. The county's population swells massively during major events like Mardis Gras and it faces seasonal hurricane threats, straining its 911 and dispatch capabilities and threatening service continuity for residents and visitors.

To address this, Hexagon provided its computer-aided dispatch (CAD) solution as the core technology for a new, self-contained Mobile Command Unit (PSAP). This mobile unit from Hexagon, equipped with satellite and radio, enabled MCCD to ensure continuous emergency response. The solution's impact was proven when the unit was deployed to neighboring Baldwin County after a hurricane, serving as their primary 911 call center and restoring critical services after their dispatch center lost power.
