MITNETZ STROM - Customer Case Study

MITNETZ STROM, a German utility company, faced the challenge of integrating and standardizing its vast and disparate technical and spatial power grid data following a corporate consolidation. Directed by EU policy to create a smart grid, the company needed a centralized geographic information system (GIS) to manage this data and enable future capabilities. The utility selected Hexagon to implement a solution powered by HxGN NetWorks to meet this need.

Hexagon implemented HxGN NetWorks as a central data hub, integrating approximately 10 million assets and enabling secure, role-based access across the enterprise. The solution provided a foundation for numerous smart grid applications, including network load analysis, a solar power register, and low-voltage grid evaluation. This has allowed MITNETZ STROM to optimize its infrastructure, integrate renewable energy sources, and use business intelligence tools to assess risks and opportunities more effectively, ensuring a stable and secure electricity supply for millions of customers.
