Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro Uses Hexagon Solutions to Ensure Public Safety During Olympic

The Military Fire Department of the State of Rio de Janeiro (CBMERJ) faced the challenge of ensuring public safety and security for the massive 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games with limited resources. To manage this large-scale event, they required enhanced situational awareness, event management, and reporting capabilities, leading them to partner with vendor Hexagon and implement their Intergraph Planning & Response solution alongside their existing Intergraph Computer-Aided Dispatch (I/CAD) system.

The solution from Hexagon provided CBMERJ with a suite of tools for major event planning, real-time monitoring via maps and dashboards, and dynamic resource allocation. This enabled the department to efficiently handle a significant influx of incidents and coordinate resources across multiple agencies. A general director from CBMERJ stated that Hexagon's technologies were essential for optimizing their on-the-ground resource planning, ensuring the safety of athletes, dignitaries, and over 1.4 million tourists.
