Case Study: Tacchificio Villa Cortese accelerates heel design validation with Hexagon's Marc simulation software

A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the Tacchificio Villa Cortese Case Study

Milan-based manufacturer steps ahead of the competition by putting high heel designs through their paces with simulation software

Tacchificio Villa Cortese, a Milan-based manufacturer of high heels for leading shoe brands, faced challenges in designing durable yet fashionable heels. The traditional process of physical prototyping and testing was expensive, slow, and limited their ability to innovate with new, sustainable materials. They turned to Hexagon and its MSC Software division, implementing the nonlinear finite element analysis software Marc to overcome these obstacles.

Using Hexagon's Marc software, the company can perform structural analyses at the start of a design project, virtually testing geometries and materials. This solution replaced lengthy physical tests, saving significant time and resources. A simulation that takes 30-45 minutes replaced a physical testing process that required around 17 hours and 15kg of raw metal per mold. Hexagon's technology provided Tacchificio Villa Cortese with the confidence to innovate, avoid costly unsuccessful prototypes, and accelerate its design process.
