A Hexagon Case Study
M. Jürgensen GmbH & Co KG, a manufacturer of cylinder liners for large engines, faced challenges maintaining tight tolerances and avoiding rework in its production process. Manual measurements between machining steps were time-consuming, prone to error, and led to rejects. To overcome strong international competition with higher quality and productivity, the company sought a new measurement solution and partnered with Hexagon.
Hexagon implemented its m&h infrared touch probe systems and developed special measuring cycles for the customer's Doosan lathes. This automated in-process measurement and allowed for immediate tool correction. The solution from Hexagon reduced rework considerably and cut machine downtime in these processes by more than a third. This resulted in significant time savings, the elimination of setup rejects, and increased production capacity for M. Jürgensen.
