Luciad Teams Up with SC2 for Social Media Insight Mapping

Sc2 Corp, a company founded by former U.S. military special operations personnel, faced the challenge of analyzing vast amounts of social media data to understand on-the-ground public sentiment for military and commercial clients. They needed a powerful, private solution that could perform geospatial and temporal analysis on data in over 40 languages, all hosted on a local appliance rather than a cloud platform due to privacy concerns. To build this system, called the Human Terrain Analysis System (HTAS), Sc2 Corp partnered with Hexagon for its geospatial technology.

Hexagon provided its Luciad technology, which formed the core of the HTAS appliance for advanced geospatial data visualization and situational awareness. The solution allows users to map social media conversations in both time and space to identify influencers and track public opinion. The measurable impact is significant, as the system can analyze in half a day what would take a team of 20 people a full day to accomplish, drastically improving operational efficiency for its users in defense, insurance, and marketing.
