Leitz Cmms With Quindos Test The Accuracy Of Engine Components

Audi Hungaria Motor Kft., the Hungarian subsidiary of Audi AG, faced the challenge of ensuring the quality and precision of its highly complex engine components, such as camshafts featuring the Audi Valvelift System (AVS). The manufacturer required a metrology solution capable of performing extremely accurate 100% inspections on these intricate parts to maintain process stability and support its high-volume production.

Hexagon implemented a fleet of its high-precision Leitz coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), including models like the Leitz Reference with an integrated rotary table, all powered by QUINDOS measuring software. The solution provided the accuracy and dependability needed for complex inspections, significantly reducing measurement times. For example, a cylinder bore analysis that previously took an hour was completed in half the time. Hexagon's technology enabled greater process stability, allowed for equipment placement closer to the factory floor, and offered the future benefit of using QUINDOS as a unified software platform across all CMMs.
