Leitz Cmms Have Been Ensuring The Accuracy Of Gear Grinding Machines For Decades

Reishauer AG, a manufacturer of highly precise gear grinding machines, required ultra-accurate quality assurance to ensure the components of their machines met micron-level tolerances. To maintain their stringent quality standards, the company turned to vendor Hexagon and its Leitz coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and QUINDOS metrology software for a high-precision inspection solution.

Hexagon implemented a two-machine solution: a Leitz PMM-C Ultra for the climate-controlled inspection room to measure core components and a Leitz PMM-C on the production floor for larger parts. This allowed Reishauer to perform 100% documented inspections directly in production and achieve the extreme accuracy needed for their grinding machines. The results were a significant increase in throughput and inspection accuracy, enabling Reishauer to guarantee the quality of their products. The long-term partnership with Hexagon, including excellent software support and training, ensured the company could fully leverage the technology.
