Leading Design Office Replaces Aveva VNET with Intergraph Smart® Toolset in the Cloud

The UK-based design office for a global oil operator company faced challenges with its use of standalone design tools, which led to inconsistent data, manual error checking, and the risk of costly flaws in its FEED projects. To address this, the company partnered with Hexagon to replace its AVEVA VNET system and implement a suite of solutions including SmartPlant Fusion, Smart Data Validator, and SmartPlant Interop Publisher, hosted on the Intergraph SmartPlant Cloud.

Hexagon's cloud-based solution integrated disparate data sources into a single information database, enabling automated validation and early error detection. This allowed the design office to avoid potentially major issues; in one instance, discovering missing piping that prevented an estimated 45 tons of rework. The results included improved data accuracy, enhanced collaboration, reduced delivery costs, and a foundation for the operator to consider global expansion of the data-centric approach.
