A Hexagon Case Study
The customer, Künzli Holz AG, a construction company with over 140 years of experience, faced the challenge of meeting the highest architectural and technical requirements for the facade of a new children's hospital. Their work required extreme accuracy to prefabricate timber elements for the hybrid concrete structure. To achieve this, they partnered with vendor Hexagon and utilized its Leica iCON iCR70 total station and field software for precise as-built verification and layout.
The solution from Hexagon enabled a highly efficient one-man layout workflow. Using the robotic total station, the team could accurately measure the concrete structure, import the data into their 3D model, and then precisely position layout points directly on site from the digital plans. This process eliminated the need for manual measurement and a second crew member, saving significant time and increasing on-site productivity. The result was an incomparable level of accuracy in placing prefabricated elements, ensuring the project's stringent quality standards were met cost-effectively.
