KASTO - Customer Case Study

The customer, KASTO Maschinenbau, a manufacturer of saws and metal storage systems, faced significant production challenges. Their machining of large, distorted castings and welded components led to frequent errors, rejects, and time-consuming manual setup for each workpiece. This process was a major impediment to productivity, especially for their typical small-batch production. Seeking a solution, they partnered with vendor Hexagon to implement m&h touch-trigger probes on their machining centers.

Hexagon’s m&h probes automated the setup process by accurately measuring critical points on each workpiece, allowing operators to quickly adjust its position for machining. This solution drastically reduced setup times by at least 50% and virtually eliminated manufacturing errors and rejects that were previously common. KASTO reported being highly satisfied with the technology's performance and Hexagon’s outstanding support service, including a rental program that ensured zero production downtime during any repairs.
