KarT sp. z o.o., a Polish manufacturer of industrial automation and can seaming machines, faced a challenge with ensuring the quality of can seals. Retooling their machines for different can types led to long setup times and increased wastage, as quality inspections were destructive. To solve this, they partnered with vendor Hexagon to find an innovative vision system for non-destructive quality control based on 3D scans.

Hexagon provided a SmartScan 3D scanner with a TT-100 turntable to capture precise dimensional data of can seams and build a database for the new vision system. This solution allowed KarT to automate measurements, drastically reduce machine setup times, and perform non-destructive inspections. The result was a significant reduction in production time and material wastage for their customers.
