A Hexagon Case Study
The Isle of Man Government's Department of Home Affairs Communications Division faced the challenge of operating three separate emergency service control rooms with different systems. Seeking to improve collaboration and efficiency, they embarked on a project to create the British Isles' first joint control room for police, fire, and ambulance services. They selected a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system from Hexagon to serve as the core of this new operation.
Hexagon implemented its multi-agency CAD system, which was configured to accommodate the unique workflows of each emergency service while enabling a unified response. The solution has been a success for over a decade, handling up to 35,000 calls per month and managing over 2,500 incidents. The joint control room, operated by just 3 to 5 staff per shift, has realized significant savings in buildings and overhead, and the customer states they would not return to their previous separate systems.
