Case Study: Lakber improves large-component inspection with Hexagon’s Leica Absolute Tracker and T-Probe

A Hexagon Case Study

Preview of the Lakber Case Study

Inspection of large-volume wind energy components

Lakber, a Spanish machining company, was tasked with inspecting large-volume wind energy components for Sakana. Their challenge was finding a measurement system that was highly accurate and portable to handle these massive parts on the shop floor, eliminating the need for time-consuming transport to a metrology lab. To meet this need, they turned to vendor Hexagon for a solution.

Hexagon implemented a portable CMM solution consisting of a Leica Absolute Tracker and a Leica T-Probe. This mobile system provided highly accurate 3D measurements directly next to the milling machines. The results were a streamlined inspection process and the successful development of in-house metrology expertise for Lakber, with their General Manager stating the laser tracker had no elegant alternative. Hexagon also provided critical training and support, which was cited as a key factor in the solution's success.
