A Hexagon Case Study
The German railway company Deutsche Bahn was facing challenges with its outdated inspection process for train bogies. Using dial indicators and surface plates was inflexible, time-consuming, and could not be used for new bogie types. To increase efficiency and secure the economic future of its Bremen facility, Deutsche Bahn sought an alternative and selected the DPA portable 3D measurement system from Hexagon.
Hexagon's solution automated the entire measurement process using custom macros, which guided operators and eliminated the need for extensive training. This resulted in a dramatic reduction in measurement time and cost per bogie, allowing Deutsche Bahn to recoup its investment in just a few months. The DPA system also provided highly accurate, repeatable results and automated reporting that met the company's high standards.
