If Then Architecture Inc. - Customer Case Study

If Then Architecture Inc., an Ottawa-based architecture firm founded by research alumni of Carleton University, needed to generate highly accurate building models for its clients. Their challenge was to efficiently capture complex and varied architectural spaces to create reliable deliverables for design, construction, and maintenance projects, overcoming diverse site conditions and obstacles. To meet this, they utilized 3D laser scanning technology from Hexagon's Leica Geosystems.

The solution was a hierarchical scanning process using a fleet of Hexagon's tools, including the Leica RTC360, BLK360, BLK2GO, ScanStation P40, and TS07 total station. The method involved setting a precise control network before systematically capturing a building's exterior envelope, vertical circulation, and interior spaces. This approach, powered by Hexagon's technology, resulted in a significant increase in accuracy, efficiency, and the quality of deliverables. The firm can now capture up to 100 scans per day, freeing up team members to take on more projects, which has enabled business expansion and increased profits.
